Our staff, elders, and ministry leaders play a pivotal role in the life and vitality of BNC’s community. They are the backbone, guiding and nurturing us toward spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. Each member of the church leadership team contributes their unique gifts and talents to enrich the lives of others. They provide support, encouragement, and care, helping us navigate life’s challenges and deepen our relationship with God.

Lead Pastor

I have been a pastor for over 20 years and married for over 20 years. We are a family of 9, some were born to us and some were gifted to us. It is a beautiful story that can be shared over a cup of coffee. I have been a Pastor at BNC for over 16 years. I started as the Youth Pastor and then in 2015, I was demoted to the position of Lead Pastor.

I love being with people whether it is over a cup of coffee, fishing, or playing basketball. I love living and volunteering in this community. Brentwood has been so good to my family and me. I coach locally, mainly at Edna Hill Middle School. Our church is called Brentwood Neighborhood Church, and I want us to be the best neighbors we can be both as a church and individually as missional neighbors.

BNC Students Pastor

Hello! My name is Ben DeRuiter, and I am stoked to be joining the BNC community as your youth pastor. A little bit about me, I am married to my wife Krystal, and we have a blended family. We have two kids that we co-parent with, Kamdyn and Kade, and we have a little one of our own, Raelyn. My wife grew up in Oakley, and when we got married, I decided to move out this way from Ripon.

I received my degree in Social Work from Dordt College in Iowa and worked in the Social Work field, primarily with at-risk youth, before sensing the call into ministry. For the last six years, I have served as a youth pastor in the Central Valley while earning my Master's Degree from Knox Theological Seminary. When I’m not sharing Jesus with students, you can find me playing golf, watching pretty much any sport, or fishing on the Delta. As your youth pastor, my hope is to see our students grow in their faith and knowledge of our Savior while having fun in the process. I can’t wait to get started and meet all of you!

Executive Pastor & Elder

Carlos Gonzalez

I was born and raised in Redwood City, and loved growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area peninsula through the 70’s and 80’s. In the late 80’s God opened up a clear path for me to know Him better, and it has been a non-stop adventure ever since. I met my future wife Lana, got married, and raised 2 amazing boys. We moved to Brentwood because it allowed us to afford a home for a large family, so we had 2 more boys!

I’ve been an avid tech guru since I was born, basically electrocuting myself many times as I dug into equipment to understand how things work. That led me to the artistic heart of video, audio, music, and electronics technology. I eventually began my own video production and sound design company in 1984. These decades of experience and knowledge has landed at BNC, where I can apply these skills in any and every way needed.

I have been married to my wonderful wife, Andrea for 31 years. We have lived in Brentwood since 1996. We have 4 children that we have raised here. I currently teach Computer Science at Liberty High School.  We started attending BNC in 2021. I grew up just on the other side of Mt. Diablo in Walnut Creek. I went to college at SDSU and graduated from CSU San Bernardino. I also went to A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary where I earned my Master’s degree in Intellectual Leadership. My ministry passions are Small Groups and Global Missions. My wife and I currently host and lead a small group in our home. In my free time I love playing modern board games, almost anything science fiction, and traveling to other places and other cultures.  My personal mission statement is: to direct people to learn to fear the Lord. My vision statement is: To see the Church prepared to get disciplemaking done.

Hello BNC family! I'm Beckie. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Kevin for 13 years, and we have three awesome kids, John (9), Peter (7), and Hank (4). We have been attending BNC for just shy of 6 years. I volunteer at the connect table and in the nursery on Sunday mornings. I’m also a part of the women’s ministry team. This last summer, I volunteered as a Buddy Bears leader and loved every minute of it! In my spare time, I enjoy reading and caring for my plants. This year the Lord has been speaking to me about the importance of the fruit of the Spirit and what it looks like to be led by the Spirit.

Children's Ministry & Communications

Hi, I’m Jessica! I’m a wife, mom of two boys, nature-lover, and am passionate about being an apprentice of Jesus. I’m so grateful to serve at BNC and love that God has called me to our kids and families. As the daughter of two educators, I knew from a young age that I wanted to be involved in education. Although that has taken many different paths in my life, getting to teach kids about Jesus is something I will never take for granted. I am passionate about seeing our next generations experience the God of the universe, fall in love with Jesus, and be empowered by the Holy Spirit to impact their neighbors for Him. It is literally the coolest job! In my free time I love to cook and bake. I also get really excited about creating comfortable, welcoming environments that bring people together, or as some would call in, interior design.

Hello everyone! My name is Joshua Call. I first came to BNC with my parents in 2004 , and in 2022, my wife, Brittany, and I started attending again with our daughter. Four generations of my family call BNC our church home. Brittany and I met in college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. We got married and moved back to Brentwood in 2014. I attended seminary and worked in middle school ministry for a couple years before becoming a high school math teacher. In 2020, God blessed us with Eleanora and I’ve been learning fatherhood ever since! I serve on the worship team playing the bass and sometimes the cajon. I enjoy reading, cooking, and playing board games and video games. A simple verse that I always find encouraging is Joshua 1:9, “...Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (ESV)
